The US Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Network is a collaborative effort involving more than 1800 scientists and students investigating ecological processes over long temporal and broad spatial scales. It was established by NSF in 1980 and has 26 LTER sites representing diverse ecosystems and research emphases. |

CERN |

The Chinese Ecosystem Research Network ( CERN) was established in 1988 under the auspices of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In addition to five disciplinary centers and a Synthesis Research Center, it also consists of 36 ecological research stations located across China.Its major missions include monitoring, research and demonstration. |
